Donald Bragg

1. - Mike Henry, Tarzan and the Valley of Gold, 1967. Always nicknamed Tarzan, the 1960 Olympic champion pole-vaulter answered producer Sy Weintraub's call for  “a young Burt Lancaster” for Tarzan movies and series. Bragg lost out to an LA Ram but played the role for three days in Jamaica before it was shuttered by the Edgar Rice Burroughs Estate. Bragg was lucky. Henry was bitten by Cheetah, requiring 20 stitches in his chin. He sued  Weintraub for “maltreatment, abuse, and working conditions detrimental to health and welfare - dysentery,  ear infection,  liver ailment during the films in Mexico and Brazil.”  Ron Ely made the subsequent series.
