Hailee Steinfeld

  1. Jennifer Lawrence, The Hunger Games, 2011.
  2. Jessica Brown Findlay, Lullaby, 2012.     New York actor turned auteur resisted the temptation of taking the lead role in his helming debut. However, he lost Hailee - and Annette Bening - from the consequences of a father deciding to take himself off life-support.
  3. Amy Adams, Lullaby, 2013.    Annette Bening and Hallee as mother daughter became Anne Archer and Adams
  4. Shailene Woodley,  The Fault in Our Stars, 2013.    All the new young babes were chasing this one…   Liana Liberato, Mae Whitman (author John Green’s favourite).  Marty Kate Wiles. Steinfeld was Woodley’s biggest rival. Director Josh Boon preferred Woodley. This was her double whammy breakthrough year with Divergentand this endearing tale of two teenage two victims in a cancer support group.  No, much better than  it sounds. The guy was Ansel Elgort,  also from Divergent.
  5. Rosa Salazar, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trails, 2015.   Emma Roberts and Hailee Steinfeld were up for Brenda. The Australian  Adelaide Kane was chosen by the fans of the new  dystopian  franchise but had an already over-filled diary.  And so Salazaar joined what the three chapters’ Floridian director Wes Ball called : Lord of the Flies meets Lost. (Rather than mention his rivals : Hunger Games or Divergent.)
  6. Sophie Turner, X-Men: Apocalypse, 2015. "A big monster of a movie," declared producer-director Bryan Singer. “A kinda conclusion of six X-Men films, yet a potential rebirth of younger, newer characters." To succeed Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey, a mutant scared of her super-abilities, Singer mused over Lily Collins,Elle Fanning, Chloë Grace Mortez, Sasha Pieterse, Saoirse Ronan, Hallee Steinfeld and Hollywood’s hottest newcomers:  Star Wars find Daisy Ridley and The Wolf of Wall Street’s Margot Robbie. He voted Turner, because of how she handled the dark side of her Game of Thrones character, Sansa Star … and despite Sophie having blue eyes and Janssen, dark brown.
