Payday Loans
Robert Alda (1914-1986)

  1. Glenn Ford, A Stolen Life, 1945.       This was a BD Production and BD called the shots. Bette Davis. Warner Bros preferred the cheaper contractees Alda or Dennis Morgan to her choice of Ford. BD then made a secret test with GF and Jack Warner caved and paid Columbia’s loan fee. Together with Gilda, this film reopened GF’s career after two WWII years in the Marines. And explains why he did the same for her in his Pocketful of Miracles, 1960. Now how she saw it. “That shitheel wouldn't have helped me out of a sewer!”
  2. Michael North, The Unsuspected, 1946.      Director  Michael Curtiz changed the murder mystery’s Mysterious Stranger and Warner gave North an “introducing” credit - when he’d made his 20 previous films as Ted North.   Didn’t help him, any. This proved to be his finale. He quit acting to become… an agent!
