- Nicholas Courtney, Doctor Who #41: The Web of Fear TV, 1968. Colonel Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart was assigned to Langton - who suddenly quit before rehearsals began for the Season 5 six-episode arc. Courtney (previously Bret Vyon in #21: The Daleks' Master Plan, with Doc1 William Hartnellin 1965) was quickly promoted from playing Captain Knight to the Colonel, later Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, chief of UNIT… for 107 episodes across 24 years, from Doc2 Patrick Troughton to Doc7 Sylvester McCoy.
