William Powell,Life With Father, 1946.   The co-writer of Broadway’s longest running play  also starred in it with his wife, Dorothy Stickney.  They both tested for the Michael Curtiz movie but were deemed too old  - there no no close-ups on-stage ! (Also with Russell Crouse, Lindsay wrote another  monster Broadway hit: The Sound of Music).
