US director Antoine Fuqua chose the New Zealand actor and musician for his big Hollywood break - as part of Bruce Willis’ SEAL team on a rescue mission in Nigeria. However, ‘Smithy’ died in China earlier that year due to head ijnuries following an on-set fall just after completing the lead rôle in Warriors of Virtue 2 : Return to Tao.
