William Haines

  1. HB Warner, Sunset Blvd, 1949.    Director Billy Wilder chose some surving silent players to be around his ex-silents’ queen, Norma Desmond – Gertrude Astor, Franklyn Farnum, Buster Keaton, Anna Q. Nilsson, Eva Novak, etc.  Plus Haines to make up a fourth for bridge. He was not interested, worried  the papers might  dig up how his homosexuality ruined  his career. He was happier  as an interior decorator. CB De Mille, also guesting, suggested Warner, his Jesus from The King of Kings, 1926.
