Irving Pichel, Jezebel, 1937. The Warner Bros Daily Production and Progress Reports confirm that Paul Boyer, Rafael Corio, Jean De Briac, Tony Paton and George Sorel tested for Huger, , with the titular Bette Davis in the film known as the black-and-white Gone with the Wind! The Odessa-born Sorel made 107 Hollywood films, usually uncredited – from several doctors and cops to a Bored Sentry Reading Newspaper in Gary Cooper-Ingrid Bergman’s For Whom The Bell Tolls in 1942. Pichel acted in 75 films and directed 40 others, including The Bride Wore Boots, Mr Peapody and the Mermaid, Destination Moon, Martin Luther. PS. Jezebel was released in the US on the day I was born: March 26, 1938.

A BOND MISS

It’s more doubtful that the next Bond will be Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Not because his name is longer than any 007 title. But from August (and instead of Adam Driver, Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeve or John David Washington,) he has his own Marvel to nuture,. Kraven the Hunter – fifth film in the Spideyverse. (Aaron was an Amazing Spider-Man contender in 2010). He’s also into the WWII bomb heist, Fuze, and joins M-that-was, Ralph Fiennes, in the 28 Years Later chapter from Danny Boyle – who, of course, directed Daniel Craig and his ultimate Bond Girl, The Queen, for the 2012 London Olympics.
