David Hemmings, Camelot, 1966. As stars like Brando, Burton, O’Toole, Julie Christie, Marianne Faithfull, Elizabeth Taylor and Terence Stamp were chased for King Arthur, Guenevere and Lancelot, two fairly unknown Brits, James Beckett and Barry Justice,were seen for Mordred, the bastard son of King Arthur of Round Table (and indeed Camelot) fame. Hemmings, however, was the #1 new Brit of the hour. Thanks to his breakthrough in Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow Up.
Michael York, Accident, 1967. Ain’t no Justice here…! Barry lost William to Michael in in what The Times rightly hailed as “the Joseph Losey film everyone has been waiting for.” Justice was a busy TV actor. In the London 70s. He commited suicide in 1980.

Game over! Recently, we’ve seen Marlon Brando leading Jack Nicholson by one or two movies he chose not to make – and then, almost immediately, vice-versa. The gap is much wider now. We’ve found two more titles for Jack – Wall Street, Scent of a Woman - and just one extra for Marlon (The Killer Inside Me). Result: Jack now tops the league with 179 films compared to Brando’s 173. A BOND MISS

It’s more doubtful that the next Bond will be Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Not because his name is longer than any 007 title. But from August (and instead of Adam Driver, Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeve or John David Washington,) he has his own Marvel to nuture,. Kraven the Hunter – fifth film in the Spideyverse. (Aaron was an Amazing Spider-Man contender in 2010). He’s also into the WWII bomb heist, Fuze, and joins M-that-was, Ralph Fiennes, in the 28 Years Later chapter from Danny Boyle – who, of course, directed Daniel Craig and his ultimate Bond Girl, The Queen, for the 2012 London Olympics.
