And she had “two good reasons why men go to see her.” Howard Hawks (director for about two weeks, before Hughes took over everything!) tested the next generation - the sons of scripter Gene Fowler and Wallace Reid... the silent screen’s Most Perfect Lover. They were lucky to lose to Buetel (ex-Beutel). Hughes made sure the ex-insurance man didn’t work again for seven years after refusing to have sex with Hughes.
