  2. Brad Dourif, Deadwood, TV, 2004-2006.   Dillahunt next tested for Doc Cochran - and was given Jack McCall in the first year…
  3. Gerald  McRaney,  Deadwood, TV, 2005-2006.   …with the promise of George Hearst in Season 2.  But as Hearst wouldn’t show until the final year , Dillahunt became Francis Wolcott.
  4. Josh Brolin, No Country For Old Men, 2006.     Class! Or: How to win a role on a Coen brothers movie...  Dillahunt tested five times for Llewelyn Moss  (and was given  Wendell).  While Brolin cleverly had his  test (with Marley Shelton as Carla Jean) was shot by Robert Rodriguez and directed by Quentin Tarantino… while making their double-feature hommage, Grindhouse
  5. Sam Rockwell, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, 2007.    Dillahunt was chosen to be The Coward’s brother as he resembled Casey Affleck, set to be Ford.  A TV gig inteferred and Rockwell took over with Dillahunt compensated  with another role.  Brad Pitt’s contract as Jesse insisted the long title remain unchanged.
