Vanessa Brown (1928-1999)

  1. Cathy Downs, My Darling Clementine, 1945.         No, no, no cried head Fox Darryl F Zanuck. Crain’s fans will be upset because Clementine is a small role. There are no small roles in Hollywood, only small-minded studio czars.
  2. Peggy Ann Garner, Thunder in the Valley (aka Bob, Son of Battle), 1946.       Early in May, Peggy Cumins had to leave the sheepdog saga in May to shoot The Late George Apley. Later that month, her replacement as Maggie was announced as Brown. Not for long… Garner made the heart-warmer. Brown had an IQ was 165 and created Marilyn’s rôle in the Broadway production of The Seven Year Itch.
