- Dick Crockett, Operation Mad Ball, 1957. Gloria DeHaven’s older brother had to quit being Sergeant McCluskey in Jack Lemmon’s Army comedy – far too busy being assistant director, his job on 90 other film and TV gigs. He was later helped produce five movies, including Cool Hand Luke and Lemmon’s April Fools. Crockett, who took over the sarge, was stunt double for Lemmon, Tony Curtis, Peter Sellers and – the other reason he was on the set – Mickey Rooney.
