Mario David

1. – Jacques Canselier, Bons baisers… à lundi, France, 1974. Prodigious French dialoguist-turned-auteur Michel Audiard (129 scripts in 36 years) promoted David from the gang of three criminals to the script’s seducer thereby leaving a gap in the gang. Designed to make a star out of popular character player Jean Carmet, he comedy satill flopped. Badly.

2. – Thomas Chabrol, L’Enfer, France, 1994. David was a regular in the output of the veteran New Wave star director Claude Chabrol. And the sole member of the 1994 cast who’d had a role in the 1964 version, aborted after Henri-Georges Clouzot’s death. Chabrol filled David’s old role with his son, Thomas Chabrol – born in 1963.
