- John Russell, Yellow Sky, 1947. Head Fox Darryl F Zanuck suggested Clark for Lengthy, joining Richard Widmark in making a move on their gang’s leader – Gregory Peck as Stretch Dawson – on finding the gold stache of Anne Baxter’ls Grandpa James Barton in the excellent William Wellman Western – with a smidgen or two of The Tempest. Hardly Shakesperean, but I love those names Lengthy and Stretch.
- Gregory Ratoff, All About Eve, 1950.
- Robert Keith, Love Me Or Leave Me, 1954. As Hollywood had not yet begun shooting Doris Day through cheesecloth to make her look younger, many character guys up for the Ruth Etting biopic were supplanted by seniors. Such as Keith as her agent.
