Georgia Hale

  1. Virgina Cherrill, City Lights, 1931.     In a pique, when she dared ask to leave before the crucial finale for a hair appointment,  Charlie Chaplin dropped Virginia and replaced her with his 1925 Gold Rush co-star. After a few scenes, Chaplin realised he would need to re-shoot 500 days’ footage! He called Cherill back and doubled her previous salary to $150 per week. Apart from one Rin Tin Tin caper, Georgia  never made it into the talkies, her career ended after 14 film in six years.
