Roy Hudd

1. –  William Dexter,  The Knack,  1965.  The British stage and TV comic had less luck with cinema. Title of his David Frost BBC-TV satire series explained his absence: Not So Much A Programme, More A Way of Life.

2. – David Lodge, The Intelligence Men, 1965. Two top comics were enough in this Rank Organisation vehicle for beloved UK team,  Morecambe & Wise.

3. –  Graham  Stark,  Alfie, 1966. Director Lewis Gilbert “even had plans  to  helicopter me  to and  from  my summer stage show in Clacton – but the insurance premium was too high.”

4. – Grover Dale, Half A Sixpence, 1967. This time, his  summer season was at Torquay.  Then again, he preferred keeping old music hall  traditions alive – with  live audiences. And turning into a fine stage and TV actor.
