Barnett Parker

  1. Hobart Cavanaugh, The Honeymoon’s Over, 1938.    Fox records at the UCLA Theater Arts Library revealed that Parker was first inked for the role of Avery Butterfield.  As IMDB put it, the British Parker  had supplied  a multitude of unctuous, stiff-upper-lip butlers, man-servants or waiters verging on the camp.  Rapidly typecast forever as a bewildered victim, Cavanaugh won 190 screen credits compared  to Parker’s 55.
