Ralph Reed

  1. Steven Terrell, Life With Father, TV, 1955.  When Reed  joined the US Army war,  his replacement as Clarence Day Jr of the all-redheaded family, was Terrell – in the series version of the 1947 film version of the enormous Broadway hit. Reed returned to acting after the Korean war, becoming a regular in ‘50s-60s Western series, from Have Gun, Will Travel and Wagon Train to Rawhide and The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.
  2. Ron McNeil, Attack, 1956.   A tough one to miss… Reed, John Goddard and Tom Laughlin failed auditions to join director Robert Aldrich’s army in one of the most abrasive WW11movies, examining “the terribly corrupting influence that war can have on the most normal, average human beings.” ie no assistance from the US Army or Defense Department.
