Todd auditioned for six other Trek different roles, including Leyor here, before winning Worf’s brother Kurn in three TNG tales and a Deep Space Niner. He’s in three TNG video games, was Alpha Hirogen in Voyager #84: Prey, 1998, and has turned out for the other side – Andromeda, Babylon 5, Stargate SG-1. He’s played more than 200 screen roles: from Jekyll and Hyde to, of course, the Candyman and Final Destination franchises. Plus Black Fox, The Crow, The X Files, 24, Splatter, West of Hell, Zombies and the 1990 Night of the Living Dead.
- Michael Jai White, Spawn, 1996. All the obvious heavyweights – Cuba Gooding Jr, Will Smith, Wesley Snipes, Tony Todd (Candyman), Denzel Washington and Tarantino favourites Samuel L Jackson, Ving Rhames – were seen for the movies’ first black superhero. (The later filmed Black Panther was born first, in a 1966 comic – 26 years before Spawn). Plus the usual rappers LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur. And the inevitable unknown: Allen Payne, from New Jack City (with Snipes). Not easy, said White, to win audience sympathy for “the most tragic character I’ve encountered,” a government assassin back from hell. Hence, Spawn 2and Spawn 3: The Ultimate Battlenever battled.
