1. – Clive Dunn, Dad’s Army, TV, 1968-77. Haig turned down Corporal Jones, and saw it turn Dunn into a TV star (with a novelty pop hit, too) and simply turned up as a gardener in two episodes of the WWII sitcom – still being BBC re-run 30 year later. Realising his error, Haig jumped at ’Allo, ’Allo, another nostalgic WWII farce, 1982-89, from a Dad writer, David Croft.
