Marie Windsor

  1. Diane Decker, Lolita,1961.    Stanley Kubrick used to exchange Valentine’s Day cards with Windsor. He wanted her to be  the best friend of Lolita’s mother, Shelley Winters. ”But there was a problem in England with the EADY plan, and there was no way that they could squeeze me in.” Decker was also American, Hollywood-born in fact, but made all her 38 screen roles in the UK (from While Nero Fiddled to The Barefoot Contessa) and was, therefore, a member of the British Equity actors’ union.
