This caused a major row between director Gabriel  Aghion and his friend and  agent, Dominique Besnehard – who was also Chabat’s agent. “I quit the agency, ” said Gabriel, “you can’t even persuade Chabat to change his mind.” No, but Besenhard had worked overtime on arranging backing for Aghion’s Pédale douce – #1 French hit of 1996. They later made up and Besnehard repeated his Pédale douce  cameo of Riki in Pédale dure, 2010.
  2. Daniel Auteuil, Aprés vous, France, 2003.    Originally, Pierre Salvadori wantedtwo fellow autuers,the actorsChabat and Jean-Pierre Bacri. When they fell out, Auteuil fell in (with José Garcia) because Salvadori’s “personality and his universe seduced me – heloves actors and I need to be loved.”
