Carmen Miranda

  1. Movita, Red Light, 1948.       Miranda, Alice Faye and (the then usually uncredited) Shelley Winters were up for the sparse females in what was something of a sequel to the star George Raft’s They Drive By Night, 1939. Billed as Movita since the 1934 Mutiny on the Bounty, Movita Castenada wed Marlon Brando (star of the 1960 Mutiny on the Bounty) during 1960-1962… when he wed Tarita, who played Movita’s role in the Bounty re-make.   In 1998, the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Orange Drive, was named Carmen Miranda Square. Which she never was.
