Christopher Gable

  1. George de la Pena, Nijinsky, 1980.    Flamboyant UK director Ken Rusell’s choice was the ex-Royal Ballet star of his films: Women In Love, The Music Lovers, The Boyfriend. Producer Harry Saltzman wanted Nureyev. Gable tested with his hair parted in the middle.   “They were horrified,” says Russell.   “If you go after the authentic look, you scare people away.”   Herb Ross finally made the film.
  2. Robert Glenister, Doctor Who #135: The Caves of Androzani, TV, 1984.      When Christopher Gable was switched from Major Salateen to Sharez Jek, eight regular Whoversers had to bow to newcomer Glenister – Nicholas Ball, Ralph Bates, Christopher Cazenove, Tom Chadbon, Nicholas Clay, Brian Cox, Donald Sumpter – for the final (and favourite) adventure of Doc5 Peter Davison.
