1. – Michael Nesmith, The Monkees, TV, 1966-68. The later member of the Three Dog Night band, auditioned and lost a place in the Pre-Fab Four. Nesmith was the second to quit being a Monkee in 1969. It cost him $500,000. Small change after Nez was willed half his mother’s $50 million estate (she invented Liquid Paper). He doubled that from creating the 80s’ non-theatrical home video catalogue, Pacific Arts Corporation… and from virtually inventing MTV.
