Doris Lloyd

  1. Moyna MacGill,  Frenchman’s Creek, 1943  Change of Lady Godolphin in a script by author Daphne Du Maurier which, said Variety, bordered on the ludicrous. Lloyd was a member  of the 1914 Liverpool Repertory troupe, winning 202 movie roles, from cleaning ladies to Marie Antoinette and Mrs Winston Churchill. She was in the first Oliver Twist and Tarzan films, two  Frankensteins, a Wolf Man,  Spencer Tracy’s Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Alfred Hitchcock’s TV work and the Julie Andrews double whammy: Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. And all becase she went for a short visit to her sister in America… and  never came back.
