Sue Ane Langdon, When the Boys Meet the Girls,1965. The new title for MGM’s second version of the Gershwin brothers’ 30s musical, Girl Crazy, made it sound like some Elvis rubbish. And both girls seen for Tess had made Presley pictures earlier that year. Fran was in Harum Scarum (once double-billed with Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster…!) and Sue Ann made Frankie and Johnny – but as Mitzi. Fran was pulled out byh her MGM Records chiefs because of some required off-key singing. More likely it was due to some of her potential lyrics. “You’ll have to be manhandled now and then, So, treat me rough, Twist my arm, If I ‘scream,’ It’s a false alarm, Just keep playin’ it tough, muscles, Keep on treatin’ me rough…” Amen.

Game over! Recently, we’ve seen Marlon Brando leading Jack Nicholson by one or two movies he chose not to make – and then, almost immediately, vice-versa. The gap is much wider now. We’ve found two more titles for Jack – Wall Street, Scent of a Woman - and just one extra for Marlon (The Killer Inside Me). Result: Jack now tops the league with 179 films compared to Brando’s 173. A BOND MISS

It’s more doubtful that the next Bond will be Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Not because his name is longer than any 007 title. But from August (and instead of Adam Driver, Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeve or John David Washington,) he has his own Marvel to nuture,. Kraven the Hunter – fifth film in the Spideyverse. (Aaron was an Amazing Spider-Man contender in 2010). He’s also into the WWII bomb heist, Fuze, and joins M-that-was, Ralph Fiennes, in the 28 Years Later chapter from Danny Boyle – who, of course, directed Daniel Craig and his ultimate Bond Girl, The Queen, for the 2012 London Olympics.
