America's Junior Miss 1961 was first choice to  play Sue Ellen Ewing, alcoholic wife of the dreaded JR.   Instead, she became Bob Newhart’s TV wife  during Newhart, TV, 1982-90, and remains best known for her work  with homeless women at the Los Angeles Mission  - sans TV camera or reporters on-hand.
