- George Macready, The Fighting Guardsman, 1945. Change of Gaston de Montreval in Alexandre Dumas’ pre-French Revolution drama. Calvert was a magician – first in movies as Clark Gable’s card-shuffling hands in Honky Tonk, 1949. He then acted in 13 other movies during 1943-1956. He debuted on-stage at eight and celebrated his 100th birthday by achieving his ambition to appear as the London Palladium.
