Sterling Holloway (1905-1992)

  1. Pinto Colvig, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, 1937.      Holloway refused an MGM contract because he had no wish to be a star.  He became, instead, an official Disney legend in 1991 for his voice-off years as a Disneyland TV narrator and Winnie The Pooh, 1966-77.  Also among his 173 roles in 60 years were   Alice’s Cheshire Cat, 1951 (he was a frog in the 1933 Paramount version) and the ssssssusperb Kaa sssssssnake in The Junge Book, 1967. Nothing this time as Sleepy went to the ’93 Disney Legend who also voiced Grumpy. And  Goofy and  Pluto.
  2. Michael Bell, A Wish For Wings That Work, 1991.      Bell had the edge on Holloway for voicing Opus, the cartoon penguin. He was 53 and Holloway - an official Disney legend, after playing Kaa the Jungle Book snake and, of course, the first Winnie the Pooh – was 86. Bell was best known for working on GI Joe, Rugrats, The Smurfs and Tangled.
