Alicia Vikander

  1. Kristen Stewart,Snow White and the Huntsman, 2011.     For the first of two re-puss-in-booted Ms Whites that year, the Swedish TV star succumbed to Stewart’s Twilight clout. She was not alone. Also knocked off their perches were Emily Browning, Dakota Fanning, Sarah Gadon, Selena Gomez, Bella Heathcote, Felicity Jones, Saoirse Ronan.. and Elvis Presley’s grand-daughter Riley Keough.
  2. Dakota Johnson, Fifty Shades of Grey, 2013.    Social networks were full of kinky ideas for the porno novel’s BDSM heroine, Anastasia Steele - from Jennifer Lawrence to Emma Watson. Few suggestions led to talks, auditions or tests. Vikander, Emily Browning, Lucy Hale, Felicity Jones, Elisabeth Olsen, Margot Robbie, London model Suki Waterhouse and Shailene Woodley were all lucky to escape the turgid, totally un-erotic enterprise. Only 14 minutes and 17 seconds of sex, no orgasms - and pubes added digitally to actors’ genital patches!
  3. Lily James, Cinderella, 2015.     On the pumpkin list for Disney’s live-action version were Vikander, Bella Heathcote, Imogen Poots, Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Gabrielle Wilde. (Amanda Seyfried was obviously counted out due to her previous role - Linda Lovelace!). And the slipper went to Downton Abbey’s bright young Lady Rose and  Natasha Rostova in the BBC’s 2016 War and Peace. And, indeed, Juliet opposite her Prince Charming, Richard Madden, as Romeo.
  4. Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, 2015.   On Warner shelves almost as long as Justice League, David Dobkins’ Arthur & Lancelot, churned into Guy Ritchie’s fist-titled Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur as the first of a possible sextet (but there are no Hobbits!). A dozen guys were seen for the king. Just just three delicious maidens for Guinevere: Swedish Alicia Vikander (from Ritchie’s Man From UNCLE), the UK’s Felicity Jones (so she won the first Star Wars stand alone movie, Rogue One), American Elizabeth Olsen and the Catalonia-born Bergès-Frisbey… aka Syrena the mermaid in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, 2010.
  5. Clara Delevingne, Suicide Squad, 2015.   After 19 possible Deadshots and 14 Harley Quinns, director David Ayer searched through eleven young beauties for June Moone, aka Enchantress (the DC villain, not Marvel’s rival to Thor). The contenders were  Vikander, Bellisario (tied to Pretty Little Liars) Emilia Clarke (nothing without her Game of Thrones’dragons), Alexandra Daddario, Megan Fox, Brie Larson, Ellen Page, Krysten Ritter, Saoirse Ronan, Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley. And told the winning Delevingne to prepare for the role by stripping naked in the woods and walk in mud, preferably during a full moon.  Takes all sorts. Film still flopped!
  6. Emma Watson, The Circle, 2015.   Oh, dear, what can the matter be?  Alicia had three good scripts - simultaneously. She chose Heather opposite Matt Damon as Jason Bourne in preference to…
  7. Ariane Labed, Assassin’s Creed, 2015.  Well, c’mon Maria was below the higher credited  Marion Cotillard’s Sofia…
