Maryam D’Abo

  1. Andie MacDowell, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, 1983.  When she met the Chariots of Fire director Hugh Hudson for the role of Tarzan’s mate, Jane Porter, Maryam had the distinct feeling that she was too late, that he had already chosen someone else.  She was right! Andie became Jane (with the help of Glenn Close’s less American voice).  D’Abo and Hudson didn’t meet again until a dinner party 1999… and bingo, they wed in 2003. (Close also voiced Kala, Tarzan’s adoptive mother, in Disney’s Tarzan, 1998).
