First White, then Williams were asked to take over Jax from Gregory McKinney – too ill to reprise his 1994 role in the franchise based on the video-game. He died the following year year from a brain aneurysm. White would become Jax in the third chapter, Mortal Kombat: Rebirth in 2009.
