- Cybill Shepherd, The Last Picture Show, 1971. That is how careers are made – and lost. The other contender had a better future. She was Sissy Spacek – winning aj Oscar nine years later for her Coal Miner’s Daughter. Whether Morgan would have agreed to Cybill’s nudity (encouraged by three veteran actresses in the film), will never be known.
- Kay Lenz, The Initiation of Sarah, TV, 1978. “I kept begging to read for the good girl, but [UK director] Robert Day said: Look we can get an ingenue anywhere, but a good bitch is hard to find.”
- Priscilla Presley, Dallas, TV, 1983-1988. Morgan played Bobby Ewing’s childhood sweetheart, Jenna Wade, first – in a 1978 chapter. Priscilla took over for some 120 hours. Morgan hit back with her own soap diva in Falcon Crest, TV, 1985-198. By the 90s, she was Matthew Perry/Chandler’s mother in Friends.
- Glenn Close, Fatal Attraction, 1987.
