Rupert Crosse

  1. Otis  Young,  The Last  Detail,  1973.    Jack Nicholson read the proofs of Darryl  Poniccsan’s  salty  novel  and  got  his  old room-mate Robert Towne to script it for him and another pal, Rupert.   Their friendship went back to  Ride in the Whirlwind, in 1965.   Then, Crosse was suddenly diagnosed as having  terminal cancer.   Hal Ashby delayed shooting until Rupert decided  whether  he could make the film.   He could not.   He was one of the actors Jack Nicholson dedicated his As Good As It Gets Oscar to in 1998.  (Ashby also died from  cancer in 1988).
