Victoria Tennant

1. –  Francesa Annis, Macbeth,  1971. Her boyfriend, according to director Roman Polanski, said no – to Lady Mac’s nudity. Well, Playboy supplied the budget.

2. – Geena Davis, The Accidental Tourist, 1988.  Geena inexplicably won an Oscar. (from Michelle Pfeiffer in Dangerous Liaisons and Sigourney Weaver in Working Girl!)  Producer John Malkovich, for one, was not satisfied with  any of the film’s women.

3. –  Nicole Kidman, Eyes Wide Shut, 1999.  From the outset, Stanley Kubrick told his British scenarist Frederic Raphael that his stars (and he distrusted stars) should  be a real couple. First thought: Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger (divorced, 2002).  Second: Martin and Victoria Tennant (divorced, 1994). Third: Cruise and Nicole Kidman (divorced, 2001). Stan’s 13th and last feature, proved  his biggest success, even though it was as disjointed and disappointing a genre exerise as The Shining had been in 1980. And it killed him on March 7, 1999.
