Almira Sessions

  1. Gale Sondergaard, The Time of Their Lives, 1945.      “I never was the pretty one, but I’ve got character.” After just three days, Sessions (from Washingtonl high society) was replaced by Sondergaard as in the Abbott & Costello mess…  Three weeks into shooting, Lou Costello walked off the movie when not getting his own way about swopping roles with his straight man sidekick, Bud Abbott.  (Not what the public was paying for). Costello returned but never apologised to anyone. Sondergaard had an easier time with other duos: Ole Olson & Chic Johnson) in Crazy House, 1943 – and Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in the fifth of their seven Roadmovies – Road To Rio. Sessions went on to complete 182 other screen roles in her 40-year career!
