Basil Sydney

  1. Rupert Davies, Maigret, TV, 1960-1963.       The vetegan Sydney portayed the iconic French police commissaire in the 1959 BBC pilot, but was unable to tackle the full series. Davies was Welsh, his #2 was New Zealander Ewen Solon. Both were flawless in the 52 cases based on books and short storis by the maitre, Georges Simenon. (And he was Belgian).
