Brenton Thwaites

  1. Aaron Paul, Need For Speed, 2013.    TV’s Breaking Bad find lost The Missionary that year, but won the DreamWorks video-game adaptation from… the Maleficent princeThwaites, Home And Away’s LukeBracey and The Hunger Games’ LIam Hemsworth.
  2. Theo James, Divergent, 2013.     The Descendants’ Shailene Woodley was the sole choice for Tris in the urban (and dumb) Twilight Games. To find Tobias “Four” Eaton, her significant other, “chemistry readings” were staged with her and Thwaites, Luke Bracey, Jeremy (“I don’t wanna be a teen idol”) Irvine, Alexander Ludwig, Miles Teller (he became Peter), Alex Pettfyer, Jack Reynor, and Lucas Till.
  3. Jack Reynor, Transformers: Age of Extinction, 2013.      Trans4mers was something of a reboot. With many new  characters, Dinobots included. Luke Grimes, Landon Liboiron and  Luke Mitchell were also on director Michael Bay’s wish-list for  race driver Shane Dyson.
  4. Dylan O’Brien, The Maze Runner, 2013.     Queensland’s Thwaites and New Yorker Connor Paolo were pipped to the Thomas post by the Teen Wolf star in the latest dystopian teenage saga. Debuting director Wes Ball called it: Lord of the Flies meets Lost. (Rather than citing his rivals: Hunger Games or Divergent?)
  5. Ansel Elgort, The Fault In Our Stars,  2013.  For author John Green’s moving love story of two victims in a cancer support group, Thwaites, Nick Robinson, Noah Silver and Nat Wolff were examined for Gus – who became a superb Elgort opposite his (idem) Divergentsister, Shailene Woodley.Wolff became Isaac – with the aid of blinding contacts to blur his vision.
  6. Harris Dickinson, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, 2018.  Change of Prince Philip (!)  in Disneyl’s Maleficent sequel . A seen-it-all-before enterprise  saved only by a  wondrous villainous turn from  Michelle Pfeffer.
