Charlotte Austin

  1. Jean Simmons, The Egyptian, 1953.    The girl named for her birthplace (Charlotte, North Carolina) won a Fox contract in the early 50s. She lost Merit to Hollywood’s latest UK beauty – and, ironically,  was cast in Simmons’ next movie, Désirée, with Marlon Brando, who had famously fled this shoddy BC epic. Austin proved there was life after Fox even if it meant  having half the title role in The Bride and the Beast, 1957, written  by Ed Wood.
