Chelsea Field

  1. Kate Mulgrew, Star Trek: Voyager, TV, 1995-2001.   The LA Times said three actresses were up for Captain Kathryn Janeway, first female skipper in Starfleet history, circa 2371. Oh no, many, many more were taking exams for the historic job… Field, Karen Austin, Nicola Bryant, Lynda Carter, Joanna Cassidy, Lindsay Crouse, Pattuy Duke, Susan Gibney, Erin Gray, Linda Hamilton, Kate Jackson, Patsy Kensit, Carolyn McCormack, Tracy Scoggins, Lindsay Wagner, Mary Woronov. Plus three guys – Californian Gary Graham, posh Londoner Nigel Havers and intense San Antonian Rene Rivera – if Paramount suits turned too macho about about having a dame messing with their space toys. Kate, the ex-Mrs Columbo, TV, 1979, ran a tight ship for six seasons.  Field already had Trek connections… Her   husband, Scott Bakula,  later played the Enterprise captain, 2001-2005. And her father once sold a horse to William Shatner!
