Clark Gregg

  1. Chazz  Palminteri, The Usual Suspects, 1994.     US Customs man Dave Kujan had always been written for Chazz but when he wasn’t free, director Bryan Singer offered it to Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Christopher Walken. When, he heard about that,  Chazz was suddenly available after all… and Gregg became Dr Walters.
  2. Peter Krause, Sports Night, TV, 1998-2000.     Actors hate passing on any Aaron Sorkin script… but Gregg was already shooting What Lies Beneath. During the final season, he turned up  twice as The Stranger.  And his next TV gig was The West Wing – written, of course, by Sorkin. Gregg  played an FBI agent which led him, in 2008 onwards,  to being Agent Phil Coulson in the Marvel franchises: The Avengers, Iron Man, Thor and TV’s Agents of SHIELD… hoping to direct one episode  “when I’m cryogenically frozen” in another.
