Clint Walker

  1. John Derek, The Ten Commandments,1954.

  2. Steve Forrest, Heller In Pink Tights, 1959.  A Clint for a Clint – but not that Clint… Hollywood gossip queen Hedda Hopper said – and you know she was never wrong – that director George Cukor and his star, Sophia Loren (in a rare blonde trip) wanted tele-cowboy Clint Walker as the gunfighter Clint Mabry in their Western tale. (No relation to the Fox musical refused by Marllyn Monroe in 1954, The Girl in Pink Tights).   Sophia told me she had difficulty finding tall leading men which is why she voted for Walker.  But he was towering over his Cheyenne series, 1955-1962. Other candidates included the  Maverick cousins, James Garner and Roger Moore, plus John Gavin and Jack Lemmon – a once and only Cowboy in 1957.

  3. Jean Ferch, Eve, Canada, 1989.     For some odd reason, the job of voicing Lucifer was offered to cowboys Walker, Chuck Connors and Rory Calhoun. They all stayed in their saddles.
