He insisted that Kellogg’s list of women – Irene, Mabel, Betty – be altered as these were also the names of condoms. Ken Englund explained he forever dropped his wife’s name into his scripts; she was Mabel, although he was thinking of legally fixing to Sam. He also suggested that producer Milton Sperling change his wife’s name from Betty to… Fred.
