Emanuel Roblès

  1. Georges Wilson,  Lo straniero (The Stranger), Italy-France-Algeria, 1966.      The French novelist/playwright Roblès was a friend and  expert of the French writer Albert Camus and keeper of the flame on behalf  of his family. He oversaw the Luchino Visconti  version (refusing to sanction any updating of the classic tale to the 60s, for example)… was among the three credited scenarists, although he didn’t write much… and he didn’t play the Judge as Visconti wanted, either, preferring an uncredited,  non-speaking rôle… as Juror #1.
