Gene Fowler (Jr)

1. – Jack Buetel, The Outlaw, 1940. Howard Hughes didn’t care about Billy The Kid. He had his gal, Jane Russell. And she had “two good reasons why men go to see her.” Howard Hawks (director for about two weeks, before Hughes took over everything!) tested the next generation – the sons of scripter Gene Fowler and Wallace Reid… the silent screen’s Most Perfect Lover. They were lucky to lose to Buetel (ex-Beutel). Hughes made sure the ex-insurance man didn’t work again for seven years after refusing to have sex with Hughes.
