1. – Moira Shearer, The Red Shoes, 1948. Wanted by director Michael Powell and scenarist Emeric Pressburger: a beautiful ballerina who can act. Moira Shearer (of the Sadler’s Wells Ballet) was perfect but it took a year to persuade her. During which time, the producers saw actresses, like  the hot Court  and the chilled Ann Todd, to share the role with with ballet doubles.
