- George Dobbs, Footlight Serenade, 1942. According to Fox archives, during a story conference on February 16, 1942, Pan was to play the dance director. He had no time! He was already the dance director of the actual movie! Pan is visible in one sequence, dancing with Betty Grable. Best known as Fred Astaire’s choregrapher (he worked on all nine Fred & Ginger musicals, plus five more for Betty Grable and it was usually his taps we heard where Fred was tap-dancing). He also appeared in ten films – including this one where he’s visble as Grable’s dancing partner in one routine.
