Toto (Antonio Griffo Focas Flavio Angelo Ducas Comneno D 1898-1967)

1. - Carlo Giuffrè, Pinocchio, Italy, 2002. The Italian cinema’s most popular comic was finally given a straight role by another writer-poet - enfant terrible Pier Paolo Pasolini - in Uccellacci e uccellini (US: The Hawks and the Sparrows), 1965. PPP’s lover  from age 15 to 24, Ninetto Davoli, played his son and Pasolini immediately saw them as Geppeto & Son - abandoned on Totò’s death. It was another 35 years before another Italian comic, Roberto Benigni,  considered  a new version - the flop of his life! Oh and this is worth adding... In 1946 the Court of Naples granted Totò the title: Imperial Highness, Prince Don Antonio Focas Flavio Angelo Ducas Comneno de Curtis di Bisanzio Gagliardi, Count Palatine, Knight of the Sacred Roman Empire, Esarca of Ravenna, Duke of Macedonia and Illiria, Prince of Costantinopoli, Cicilia, Tessaglia, Ponte of Moldavia, Dardania, Peloponneso, Count of Cyprus and Epiro, Count and Duke of Drivasto and Durazzo.  Never happened to Benigni!
